Rubinald Pronk's Biography
Rubinald Rofino Pronk was born and raised in The Hague, Netherlands. He received his training at the Royal Conservatory of Dance & joined the Dutch National Ballet at 16, where he danced as a soloist.
His awards include the prestigious Alexandre Radius Prize for the best dancer of Holland & in 2000 he won the Encouragement prize from Dansersfonds '79. Pronk also has two nominations for the VSCD "Silver Swan" award for best performance of the year. Elsevier Magazine named him "Holland's sexiest ballet dancer ever."
Pronk has worked with choreographers including Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Lightfoot Leon, Christopher Wheeldon, Itzik Galili, Krzysztof Pastor, Leo Mujic, Mia Michaels Alonzo King. Jacopo Godani & Jorma Elo & has performed works by William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, George Balanchine, Hans van Manen, Martha Graham, Frederic Ashton, to name a few.
Pronk has starred in many international Galas, & has guested with Dutch National Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, Lines Ballet, Teatro Massimo, Polish National Ballet & Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company,
In 2006 he joined Dwight Rhoden & Desmond Richardson's Complexions Contemporary Ballet in New York City, where he toured extensively & performed works by Dwight Rhoden &Ulysses Dove.
In 2008 he co-founded his independent partnership, "Jacoby & Pronk", with Drew Jacoby. The duo was featured on the August 2009 cover of Dance Magazine & have received rave reviews in many leading dance publications. They made a collection of films together with fine art photographer Alvin Booth, entitled "Les Beau est Toujours Bizarre," which premiered at American Dance Festival's 2009 Dance on Camera Film Festival.
In July 2010 they premiered their own show at Jacob's Pillow Festival which featured guest dancers from Netherlands Dance Theatre & American Ballet Theatre. In February 2012 they premiered their latest show at Holland Dance Festival in Pronk's hometown The Hague & Belgrade Dance Festival 2012.
As of May 2012 Rubinald launches his own company "PRONK". He will fuse commercial & concert dance to create an original touring show composed of innovative concepts mixing dance with visual arts, fashion, music, & technology. Pronk will collaborate with internationally renowned names in the ballet/dance world. Detailed plans for American and European tours are made and soon to be announced.
